More than 37,000 click on to WorkSite
6 October 2006
More and more people in New Zealand and overseas are using the portal to find answers to their questions about work and training in New Zealand. “In August the portal had 37,574 visits. It’s a record number for WorkSite/PaeMahi,” said Jane Ratcliffe, Senior Marketing Advisor for the portal at the Department of Labour.
It’s expected that more then 350,000 people will click on to WorkSite this year. Enhancements to the site and fresh content are all recent initiatives aimed at making it quick and easy for people to find the information and resources they need. In August 433 visitors spent more than an hour on WorkSite and the most popular areas of the site were ‘looking for work’ and ‘need help at work’. It’s also estimated that around 4,890 visitors added WorkSite to their bookmarks or favourites in August.
The Team have been working on ways to let more people know about WorkSite and how it can help them make better work, training and career decisions. In August a two-week online advertising campaign saw more than 20,000 Kiwis click through to government information on a whole range of work and skills topics. A WorkSite toolbox featured on popular sites such as Stuff, NZ Herald, Scoop, XtraMSN and Trade Me. Keep an eye out for the next campaign launching on 16 October. Raising the publics’ awareness of WorkSite is fundamental to keep growing visitor numbers.
If you’re not familiar with the portal, www.worksite.govt.nz has information from a range of government agencies as well as community, business and industry groups and covers virtually everything there is to know about working in New Zealand. If you or someone you know are considering a career change, looking for a job, starting a business or you’ve just got a question related to work, the information is all there in one place, when you need it.
