Mining regulations
All employers are required to take all practicable steps to provide a safe workplace under the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992.
Alongside this, all mines are required to comply with specific mining regulations:
- The Health and Safety in Employment (Mining Administration) Regulations 1996
- The Health and Safety in Employment (Mining Underground) Regulations 1999
The MinEx Health and Safety Council New Zealand has information on the Codes of Practice and Guidelines for underground mining. Please note that the underground mining material is at the bottom of that page.
