The primary focus of Relationship Managers is to connect employers struggling with acute skills shortages to skilled migrants who've the right skills and attributes. My team and I engage with employers across a range of sectors and regions, listen to their needs and issues and provide them with the right knowledge and solutions they can use to address the problem.
We look at the big picture, the global talent shortage and ways we can attract and retain the very best in New Zealand. But most of all it's about people. Every single migration experience is as different as the people that migrate. And this is where the role is unique, because I try to make a genuine difference to someone's life while also fulfilling the needs of employers. Being a migrant myself I've 'been there and done it', so I get a real buzz from seeing a happy employer and a happy migrant together.
We're right at the coal face' so get to see the issues that employers and other organisations face on a day-to-day basis. This position also means we get to see the positive side, when everything works out for migrants, employers and the communities in which they settle.
It sounds clichd, but I'm lucky to be surrounded by such a dedicated and capable team of people who believe in what they do and want to make a difference to people's lives and New Zealand's future.
