Deputy Secretary - Workforce:

Andrew Annakin leads the Workforce group, which delivers immigration, settlement and employment-related services to customers; and information and policy advice on these areas to government.

Andrew has had an extensive public service career, with significant experience in managing service delivery and organisational change, as well as policy development and implementation. He has been at the Department of Labour for eight years and was responsible for bringing together two previously separate service delivery organisations (the former Employment Relations Service and Occupational Safety and Health), as well as a number of associated policy teams and the ACC monitoring function, to form the Workplace Group.

Andrew has earlier management experience at the Wellington Regional Council, New Zealand Meteorological Service and the State Services Commission.

He brings an achievement focus and sound judgement to the work of the Workforce group. Andrew is committed to building a strong and respected organisation with a focus on public value.
