Deputy Secretary - Workplace:

Craig Armitage leads the Workplace group which delivers employment relationship and workplace health and safety services and information to customers; and policy advice to government on employment relations, health and safety, and ACC. The role includes responsibility for approximately 500 staff.

Craig has had a variety of senior management positions with the Department in policy, service delivery and corporate functions, covering industrial relations, employment services, health and safety and accident and workers' compensation.

He has 19 years experience in public sector roles, primarily in New Zealand, with secondments to related government agencies in the US and the UK. Since 1998 he has also been a regular attendee at the International Labour Organisation Governing Body in Geneva, and in 2008 he chaired the Committee on Skills and Productivity at the International Labour Conference.
