December 2012
The December update provides important information for operators and safety auditors including early registration from February 2013 and an accreditation scheme for safety auditors.

August 2012
The Ministry provided this information update in response to requests from the sector for clarification of the safety audit requirements. The August update includes the detailed implications for operators depending on their individual situations. The Ministry is encouraging operators to initiate safety audits well ahead of time to ensure legal deadlines are met.

Future Updates
The Ministry expects to make future announcements on further developments as follows:
- The New Zealand Adventure Activities Certification Scheme: The draft rules for the scheme will shortly be put out for public consultation. The scheme will set out requirements for how safety audit providers will plan and conduct audits, as well as placing contractual obligations on adventure activity operators audited by the providers.
