The Approved Code of Practice for Demolition is in the process of being revoked.

The Department of Labour is seeking input on the new Demolition Best Practice Guidelines. When completed, the Guide is intended to replace the Demolition Approved Code of Practice. The Guideline will:

• include the amendments to the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992 that came into effect in May 2003;
• to reflect current good practice operating in within the Demolition industry in New Zealand;
• ensure that the guidance material provided around this issue is consistent with other New Zealand documents; and
• ensure that New Zealand guidance documents reflect international best practice.
