Worksafe for Health and Safety Reps - Stage 1. Course No 522

This two day course is for elected Health and Safety Representatives and employees who are training as elected health and safety reps or have shown an interest in the role.
The goal of the course is to build skills and confidence of representatives to enable effective levels of involvement in health and safety in the workplace and an employee acceptance of shared responsibility.
The course aims to ensure that all participants understand the objectives, key duties and responsibilities set out in the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992 and other content relevant to the role of the health and safety representative.
Contact your union delegate and arrange for them to register as an elected health & safety representatives, or register direct on the Worksafe reps website.

Worksafe for Health and Safety Reps - Stage 2. Course No 567

This two day course is intended to provide health and safety representatives with the skills, knowledge and competency to discharge their duties under the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992. The course reviews and builds upon the skills, knowledge and competencies developed in the approved CTU Stage 1 course around injury prevention and the role of the representative. The primary emphasis is on accident investigation and hazard identification and control with a relevant industry case study focus.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to explain or demonstrate:
- How hazards in the workplace give rise to harm
- How multiple hazards can interact to cause incidents and injuries
- Why and when to investigate incidents and injuries
- The steps of an injury and incident investigation
- The use of tools that can assist in collecting and analysing information in an injury or incident investigation
- The sources of information and standards that can be applied to manage hazards.
- How injury and incident investigation fits into the hazard management process
- The use of tools for monitoring effectiveness of hazard management
- The role of Health & Safety reps in representing workers, finding solutions and making recommendations.

Health and Safety representatives - Stage 3. Course No 611

This two day course is for experienced Health and Safety Representatives to assist them to work effectively in their role.
The course will develop the skills of participants and they will be able to:
- work effectively in groups
- access sources of injury information
- analyse and represent injury claims data
- develop an improvement plan
- compile and present a health and safety improvement plan and make recommendations
- support an injured worker
- develop a return to work plan with a worker and the employer.
- how improvements in health and safety link to productivity
- interpreting injury claims information
- measuring what matters
- calculating the costs of workplace injury
- sources of injury information in the workplace
- the role of the representative in promoting improvements in health and safety
- the role of the representative in supporting an injured worker return to work plans
