Effective Occupational Health Interventions in Agriculture

This report presents an overview of the findings of the national study of effective occupational health interventions in agriculture conducted between January 2007 and January 2009.
The Department of Labour, ACC, and the Health Research Council of New Zealand commissioned the Injury Prevention Research Unit at Otago University to carry out research into Occupational Health Interventions in Agriculture. The research objectives were to identify key agricultural risks and hazards, to identify effective interventions to address these risks and hazards, to identify barriers to implementation and adoption of key interventions, and to identify the crucial factors to consider when designing and implementing interventions.
The research is presented in five reports including a summary report. The research confirms that the importance of work in agricultural health and safety, and recommends ways to work with the sector to reduce the work toll.
