Case Study 6 - Special Investigators TV show prompts action on health and safety

The owner of a motor vehicle workshop created a safer workplace for vehicle technicians and service staff with department of Labour assistance and advice.

After seeing the work of labour inspectors on an episode of the TV show Special Investigators, the owner of a small business that runs a motor vehicle workshop approached the Department of Labour to get information about health and safety systems.

The Department provided the business with a range of health and safety information, including industry-specific information, contact details for our local offices and details of a seminar facilitated by the Department that would provide information about employment relations and health and safety topics.

The small business operator has changed his workplace practices by identifying and managing hazards in his workplace. He is now motivated to use information and tools provided by the Department to diagnose and implement further changes in practices at his workplace.
