Long description
In June 2008 the working-age population (people aged 15 years and over) was 3,291,700. Out of the total working-age population, 2,257,000 or 68.6% were in the labour force and 1,034,000 or 31.4% were not in the labour force.
Of the 2,257,000 people in the labour force, 2,169,000 or 96.1% were employed and 89,000 or 3.9% were unemployed.
Of the 2,169,000 people in employment, 1,674,000 or 77% were in full-time employment and 492,000 or 23% were in part-time employment.
