Regional Labour Market Reports

Updated February 2007

The Department of Labour and Ministry of Social Development jointly produce Quarterly Regional Labour Market Updates, which provide a single point of reference for accurate labour market information that applies across consistent regional council boundaries.

The reports provide the latest regional labour market information such as labour force participation, employment, unemployment and job vacancies.

The publication of the reports occurs every three months within 24 hours of Statistics New Zealand’s release of the latest quarterly Household Labour Force Survey (HLFS) results.

The reports draw on HLFS statistics, MSD beneficiary records and the Department’s Job Vacancy Monitor.

Further context and interpretation of labour market data can be found in MSD Regional Plans, and Department of Labour reports including the Labour Market Outlook, Skills in the Labour Market, the Job Vacancy Monitor and the Annual In-depth Regional Labour Market Reports (due out in mid 2007).

Previous Regional Labour Market Updates can be found in the Archive.
