Figure 7-2 shows the relative annual income earnings of migrants according to region of their birth in comparison to the New Zealand born population. Overall, migrants from Australia, the UK and Ireland have a similar income profile to New Zealand-born residents (the majority earning between $30,000 and $50,000). Migrants from Asia and the Pacific Islands tended to have a lower income profile with 61 percent and 48 percent, respectively, earning $20,000 or less.
