Investigation of Causative Factors Associated with Summertime Workplace Fatalities

Long Description for Figure 30:

Figure 30 highlights the number of fatal injures in relation to serious harm in a workplace. The figure suggest that fatal injures are only the tip of the iceberg in relation to near accidents. The figure uses the example of if there was one fatal injury, in relation to this, there would be 1,200 incidents that would require a 3 day absence from work, a further 1,200 incidents would require 1 to 3 days absence, 5,000 would require first-aid and 70,000 would be near accidents. The relationships between these are represented as a pyramid with near accidents at the base and fatal injuries at the top.
