Safe use of machinery project
Every year hundreds of people are seriously injured at work because the machines they work on are not safe.
The Department of Labour has a three-year project under way with the aim of reducing the number of workplace accidents involving unguarded and inadequately guarded machinery.
Health and safety inspectors are visiting manufacturing businesses across the country to raise employers’ awareness of proper machine guarding and remind them of their duties under the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992.
