The Department is working with this sector to address future workforce requirements by informing and supporting industry parties. Alongside other food sector engagements with the meat and dairy industries, the Labour Market Development team aims to facilitate the involvement of a range of key agencies and activities linked to improving workforce development across these industries.

The outcomes sought through this sector work are:

• The capability of the industry to undertake workforce planning and address skills is increased
• Skills levels are improved
• Future labour and skills demands are planned for and recognised in government policy
