Sector Workforce Plans
Overview
To optimise economic growth New Zealand needs the right number of people with the right skills at the right time.
The Labour Market Development team works to support organisations representing businesses, employers and employees to collectively plan for their future skills and workforce needs.
Our sector engagements in partnership with industry organisations aim to get effective operation of the labour market. The sectors targeted are generally those with the greatest potential to drive New Zealand’s economic growth, however may also involve key domestic sectors exhibiting future labour market constraints.
Sector Plans
Labour Market Development works with sectors to develop comprehensive skills plans which aim to identify and address the factors that influence the supply of skills and labour. Sector skills plans and activities are being progressed, or proposed, with the following sectors:
- Meat
- Dairy
- Aged Care
- Food and Beverage Processing
- Tourism and The Rugby World Cup
- Infrastructure
- ICT
- High Value Manufacturing (including Marine)
- Seasonal Work Industries
To develop sector skills plans with these sectors, we will work in partnership with industry bodies, employee organisations, regional development agencies, industry training organisations and relevant government agencies to co-ordinate sector wide participation in workforce planning.
