Maree Piercy
Maree has extensive experience, working as a generalist human resources practitioner and an employment relations advisor for more than 15 years, mainly within the public service and state sectors.
Her particular interests are in linking ER and HR strategy with the organisation’s strategy and values, and effective grievance and dispute resolution. She also enjoys leading or managing projects, developing HR resources for managers and union delegates, and working in operational HR roles.
Maree’s most recent work has been helping the Partnership Resource Centre to develop resource materials on building effective partnerships. She has also assisted the State Services Commission and the Public Service Association to develop support materials for the third Partnership for Quality Agreement.
In her role as National HR Operations Manager for the Ministry of Social Development, Maree was tasked with turning HR and ER strategy into everyday management practice. At Te Papa, the Museum of New Zealand, she managed a wide range of HR functions including employment relations, payroll, and occupational safety and health policy. As a consultant for a number of clients, she has drafted policies, and designed and delivered training resources for managers.
Maree has also lectured in Employment Relations at Massey University Wellington, has a Masters degree, majoring in industrial and organisational psychology, and is a certificated member of the HR Institute of NZ.
