Paul Chalmers
Paul has a diverse background in both the union movement and the world of business.
His union background includes time spent as the Education Director for one of the large unions in the 1980s, where he was responsible for a number of initiatives to look at new ways to organise work in large organisations.
Since the early 1990s Paul has worked as a consultant and owned and operated private sector companies in the areas of information technology and investment. His investment company purchased the Ford Alloy Wheel Plant in 2001, and is actively working on building partnership in that workplace.
As a consultant, Paul has been engaged to investigate partnership processes by large organisations, including Carter Holt Harvey Packaging and Plastics, Franklin District Council, Dominion Breweries, and Bowron International.
Paul has a Masters in Philosophy, specialising in Performance Management, and has lectured on Human Resource Management at the University of Auckland’s School of Business, and on the Otago University MBA programme.
Paul lives on the coast in Northland to be nearer to crayfish.
