Constructive engagement programme

This programme is intended for Partnership Resource Centre (PRC) Associates and others who might be guiding union and employer “engagement groups”, such as Joint Consultative Committees and the like. It was developed primarily in support of our Associates work in the Health Sector but is easily adaptable and relevant for this sort of work in any sector of the economy.

The programme is for participants who:

  • are in the early stages of forming these groups; or
  • need to refresh or broaden their agenda and their approach to work together more constructively and effectively.

This workshop covers

The core programme is a two-day event for participants who have previously had exposure to or are contemplating work in some form of joint union/management committee. It is estimated that the core material can be delivered within 1½ days, leaving up to half a day available for any optional additional sessions.

The core material is focussed on helping the parties to understand the impact of their shared history on their relationship, explore the issues that define their current relationship and begin a process that identifies both how the parties want to work together, and what work they want to focus on together.

In addition to the core material there are a range of optional additional sessions that include some skills development options (such as the difference between dialogue and debate as well as an introduction to joint problem solving) as well as looking at the issues of influence, purpose and a discussion on the 3 important elements of “change”.

Who will deliver the training?

Our Associates are available to deliver the training – just contact the PRC to find out how.
