Decent Work New Zealand
Towards Decent Work - Charting our progress
The International Labour Organisation’s [external link] primary goal is Decent Work for all workers. Decent Work is work that is productive and delivers a fair income in conditions of freedom, equity and security in line with human dignity.
Decent Work is important for New Zealand; it sums up the working life to which we all aspire. We want to show our commitment to the ILO’s goal by making Decent Work a reality in New Zealand. An introductory statement by the Department of Labour, Business New Zealand and the New Zealand Council of Trade Unions can tell you more about what Decent Work is and why it is important for New Zealand.
On this site you will see a snapshot of activities contributing to Decent Work in New Zealand. These activities are carried out by the Department of Labour, other Government agencies, Business New Zealand, and the New Zealand Council of Trade Unions. While these activities all have their own specific aims, they also contribute to Decent Work in New Zealand.
This diagram outlines how the activities contribute to the critical success factors for Decent Work in New Zealand, and to our Decent Work objectives and the Decent Work vision.
Our snapshot is current as at February 2008 and will be updated at least annually. We aim to make this information as complete as possible but are aware that gaps may remain. If you notice a gap and wish to inform us, please contact us.
