Can someone from the Department of Labour give a presentation on health and safety to a company's staff?
Unfortunately, the Department can't necessarily meet every request to give presentations. However, it is always happy to give telephone advice and to refer people to resources on the Department of Labour and ACC websites.
When considering requests, the Department looks at the most efficient use of staff time and resources. If the business is a member of an association, then a group presentation could possibly be arranged.
Another factor the Department considers is whether the organisation's business activity comes within one of the Department's priority programmes.
It is also common practice for employers to engage private trainers who can provide presentations on various aspects of occupational health and safety. Consultants are listed in publications such as Safeguard Buyer's Guide or the YellowPages telephone directory.
