Photocopier risks

Are photocopiers hazardous?

The main problems associated with modern photocopiers are related to heat and noise nuisance. Employees can become distracted, stressed and frustrated and levels of concentration and productivity suffer when they are subjected to uncomfortably hot or stuffy conditions or nuisance noise levels.

Photocopiers should be sited as far as practicable from workers who are performing other tasks, or in a separate room.

The photocopier should be installed, operated and maintained in accordance with the manufacturer's instruction manual.
